Note the Williamsburg Bridge on the panorama's horizon on the lower right of the photograph. Also the smokestacks in Brooklyn.
The photograph was taken from an Elmhurst Queen apartment building 10th floor The Freedom Tower is about 7 miles away as the crow flies.

New Yorks Freedom Tower at Sunset. Photograph taken at about 5 pm on an Autumn day with the perfect sunset and the perfect clouds. The panorama reveals the clouds are formed by the heat rising above Manhattan. A New York Microclimate.
The photos have not been doctored or "photo-shopped" other than cropping them and stitching two photographs for the panorama.

I've added a couple of variation photos to the page after realizing the beauty and after having considered my good luck.
I hope you have a chance to view these photos on a large screen - seeing them on a smart phone or even a tablet minimizes their beauty. Take a look on a 22 or 27 inch or larger monitor I feel very lucky to get them.
The sun is only in its same approximate position, vertically and horizontally, for a few days in October and February of each year. The relativity between the clouds, Queens / Manhattan and the sun is perfect The type of clouds are usual to summer but not so in the fall. The local sky is virtually clear except for the micro-climate formed clouds from the heat rising over Manhattan
Professional photographers hope for a life time to get these conditions in photos in a New York setting. The wide open spaces of the West have ample sunsets of this type but they are rare in the East. I stuck my head out the window at just the right moment
