We arrived the day before, on the 6th of October. Everyone's first exposure to Hawaii should be a drink at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. We bought Gloria a fresh lai for her birthday and had a drink of a Mai Tai. Our body time clocks were still on central and eastern US time because we had just arrived the day before. It was about 10 o'clock in the morning and Erv and Dennis had a stiff drink, with Gloria, to salute Gloria.
It was a start of a birthday celebration that last well into the Hawaiian night
