The steak meal in Brazilian Real at a "better" restaurant (with linen and table service) was $R 50. About US$ 15.50 at the exchange rate. A 600 milliliter of beer, about 21 US ounces, was $R 9.80. Just a little over US $3. A great meal for about $21.00 including tip.

McDonald's was VERY expensive compared to local restaurants (and their amenities and level of service). An Angus Burger meal including large fries and a large drink was over US$ 12.00
