Helton and Dennis' Car. The 1984 Oldsmobile. Photographed 1996 in front of our apartment
The car was about the size of a gunboat. It served us well for a two or three years but then it began to fall apart

The shocks started to sag and it just wore out
Helton is seen driving in Elmhurst Queens
We don't remember our nick name for the car but we ended up calling it our Boi deitado, a phrase meaning lying ox or laying down cow in Portuguese.
1984 was the last year General Motors made the large boat sized models. The next year's cars got smaller. This boat only got about 10 or 12 miles to the gallon in city driving.
