Obituary Norma Grams Wheeler
Norma E. Wheeler, nee Grams, 77, of Eau Claire,
passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at her home under the care of
Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice, after suffering 52 years with
multiple sclerosis.
Norma was born in the Town of Ludington, on
March 26, 1936, a daughter of Emil and Reta (Zank) Grams. She moved to
Augusta and subsequently moved to Eau Claire in 1946. Norma attended and
graduated from Eau Claire Senior High with the Class of 1954. She then
worked as a service assistant for 6 years at Wisconsin Bell Telephone
Co.
Norma married Robert L. Wheeler on January 26, 1960, at Good
Shepherd Lutheran Church in Eau Claire with the Rev. Dr. E. M. Hegge
officiating. Norma and Bob moved to Helena, MT, where they lived until
1962, when they moved to Minneapolis and lived there for four years.
They later moved to Wausau and settled back in Eau Claire in 1968.
Norma and Bob are members of the Lutheran Church of the Good
Shepherd. She enjoyed listening to many books from the Talking Books
Library for the Blind in Milwaukee.
She is survived by her
husband of 53 years, Bob; son, Daniel (fiancé Perri) Wheeler of Sparta,
NJ; brother, Orville (Ollie) Grams; four sisters, Doris Madden, Emogene
Knuth, Jeanette Ayres, and Elvera (Donald) Biesecker; and two loyal
long-term friends, Jane Arnstad and Lynn Bjork.
She was preceded
in death by her parents; two brothers, Gordon and Donald Grams; and two
sisters, Dolores Yannone and Donadean Zutter.
Funeral services
will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at the Lutheran
Church of the Good Shepherd, 1120 Cedar Street in Eau Claire with Pastor
Val Peterson officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at
Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. Claremont Ave. in
Eau Claire, and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the
church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church
or donor's favorite charity.
