Our restored Apartment one year and 5 months after it was destroyed by a fire

Our Elmhurst New York apartment fire was on July 23, 2009.

It took one year for the apartment to be recovered and another 5 months to get it right

The walls had to be repainted even after the restoration.  We got back into the Apartment is September 2010.  By November of 2010 the paint was severely separating from the walls and ceilings.  The repainting was completed December 31, 2010, a week in which New York had a blizzard of 20 inches of snow.  The painters did a really good job after the restoration contractors did it wrong

We had two expensive cameras in the apartment.  They were stolen by someone that worked in the apartment after the fire.  The building allowed insurance agents, fire department, police department, building personal, inspectors and local workers from the park.  We borrowed cameras to photograph the destruction and bought a new camera to continue our lives
