Smith's bar in the theatre district is a New York institution. 

One of the last neighborhood bars left in the Theatre District.

A few years earlier, Justin was in New York, he was still in college working for his law degree and we made a bet.  We were at Smith's, having a beer, another one of too many, and I said that the patrons at the bar were workers in the neighborhood, probably working in the theatre business. 

Justin denied that it could be true, that the businesses in the area all were tourist dependent.  We took a poll. We talked to several patrons and all (three of them) were local workers, two of them working in the theatre.
